Stone Fort Recap

Unable to pull off our annual trip to Hueco Tanks this last season, we decided to check out the Stone Fort (aka little Rock City) of Chattanooga, TN.  It was everything we could have asked for; the rock and the climbing were phenomenal, the hike was short (and believe me when you are hiking with a 3 year old this is a HUGE plus), and the crag is only 20 minutes outside of what we found to be an extremely cool town!

Though we had to keep the trips short and sweet, they were most definitely worthwhile! LRC houses some really amazing sandstone, and the lines are both fun and aesthetic.  Some of John's best sends included Red House Extension, Tennessee Thong, and Spyro Gyro to name a few (for a complete list of John's sends and reviews you can visit  http://27crags.com/climbers/johnkreft ), and some favorite climbs of mine included  Face in the Crowd, Sternum, Shotgun, and of coarse the ever classic Super Mario Brothers.

A few worthwhile notes on this area...  Don't count out climbing if you wake up and it is raining.  We experienced a 5 hour downpour one morning and were shocked to get a call from our friends telling us to come on out because the rock was DRY.  But if it does happen to rain all day, you can check out the awesome downtown aquarium.  It was a perfect rainy day activity and Conor absolutely loved it!  Also make sure you check out Aretha Frankensteins for breakfast and Urban Stack for the best burger or veggie burger in town!  And if you need a place to stay, consider  the Crash Pad http://www.crashpadchattanooga.com/ a "Chattanooga base camp for outdoor adventurers" .

Lastly, a nice little piece that John put together of the tiny bit of footage we managed to shoot when not spotting :)

Greetings!

After spending the past few years leaving various pictures and anecdotes on facebook, we have decided to get a little more in depth and personal with our very own page!!! For those of you who may not know us (though I can't imagine why or how you would end up on this page), we are John, Jaime, and Conor "the 3 year old Spiderman" Kreft.  We currently reside in Saint Louis, Missouri and spend nearly all of our free time traveling to destinations near and far to climb.  Though St. Louis itself does not house any totally stellar crags, we are fortunate to be in this "ultimate hub"  where so many amazing places are just a drive or short flight away.  And though you would never suspect it, I have to believe that one of the greatest climbing communities in the WORLD exists right here in our cultured city, and there will be more on that to come...  in the meantime you can check out our good friends at http://teamsaucisson.blogspot.com/ .

But let's keep this intro short and sweet...

We are the Kreft family, and these are our tales on and off the rock.  We are far from your typical cookie cutter family, and hope to be living proof that adventure need not stop with the introduction of a little one, things just get a bit more interesting and a lot more fun!.  Our greatest expeditions are yet to come and we look forward to sharing them with you!
